    Into the Woods

I love love love this photo. I have no idea where it was taken.  Could be our property at 217 (the houses in the background look a bit familiar, it could be that undeveloped portion in front of the orchard) or perhaps it is at the farm in NH. I love that we are out there in our loafers, ankle socks, and short, short dresses, Ellen’s is even a smocked one, so familiar in our childhood.  This picture could be used as an advertisement for a Campground or Cabin Resort Rental property, couldn’t it?   “Come have fun with us!  What are you waiting for? “ I love it – another…

Do you have to win to enjoy playing a game?

Games. You either enjoy playing games or you don’t. But here we are asking, if you enjoy playing, do you have to win? We are a game-playing family – always have been regardless of the members. Funny thing. I think I have become less competitive as I have grown older. I have played games over the years with some pretty competitive opponents and have been upset at times and become a gleeful sore-Loser at others. But maybe from playing with the littles in my life, I have become non-competitive and I really enjoy playing with littles and with adults.  I am not sure why, but I am the farthest thing…

    Choose: sunbathe or find shade.

There is probably no grey area in this debate.  Do you prefer to sunbathe or seek shade? Funny, you’ll even find me in the shade at the beach.   Have umbrella – will travel!  Or a Cabana with some pretty cool cats! Being a beach bum at heart, it will always be sunbathing for me.  There are times when my Irish skin doesn’t appreciate my obsession, but I’ll always be a sun worshipper!

What is your favorite fairground ride?

Did you go to the local country fairs as a kid?  Or have you taken your own kids?  We used to go every year to one in our hometown and have lots of memories.  Today we are wanting to know if you had a favorite ride that you would run to each visit? I have been on a lot of rides over the years both at traveling fairs set up locally or at more permanent amusement parks.  Some rides leave me feeling sick to my stomach, some make me run around to the entrance for another go and some make me look at it with complete loathing as I disembark…

If you could be teleported anywhere in the world, where would you go?

teleport [ˈteləˌpôrt] VERB teleported (past tense) · teleported (past participle) (especially in science fiction) transport or be transported across space and distance instantly.  In some situations, teleporting is time traveling across space. Where would you go? Originally contemplating this question, I was imagining going somewhere to view something that I had dreamed about – i.e. – travel destinations, a bucket list destination.  And then, I read the last line of the above definition: In some situations, teleporting is time traveling across space. Time Travel.  YES!!!! So, I would definitely go back to the year 1977 – the year after I graduated and since I am fantasizing about this – let’s pick a Saturday…

Do you avoid stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk and if yes, why?

Do you remember the jingle? Do you remember avoiding the cracks in the sidewalk as you walked or skipped along? Or could you be found boldly stepping on each crack you encountered? Do you still avoid them? Today we talk about superstitions wrapped up in a childhood rhyme. “Step on a crack, break your momma’s back” Funny, when I was a kid I used to remember really believing that this was the case.  And there were many times that I hopped over any cracks I encountered until one day that I didn’t.  I couldn’t get over the crack fast enough and ended up landing smack dab on it.  I immediately…

If money were no object, what would you buy?

I think we can say that we’ve all done a little dreaming of things we don’t already have or places we would love to see.  What we are asking you to do today is to ask yourself – what would you buy/do if you didn’t have to worry about the money it would take to do so? I do this brainstorming exercise often in a journal.  I do it when a particular lottery game gets big and I’ve bought a ticket, it’s fun to daydream about what I might use the money for.  I do it when I see a new car that looks fun to drive but that I…

Did you ever win a stuffed animal at a county fair?

County fairs are such fun, something both Ellen and Pam grew up with. They can be sensory overload for some with the rides, games, fair food, exhibits, tractor pulling, lots of noises, lights and smells. Some of our favorites are the Ferris wheel, fried dough and just people watching on the midway, but todays questions is – have you ever won a stuffed animal at one of these fairs? I have tried many times to win a plush at the local country fairs over the years. Many times. And I was successful just ONCE! I will never forget the thrill of the moment my hoop circled the pin.  The look…

    Celebrating October!

Sometimes life throws you a curveball.  October threw us a month filled with THINGS. Ever have a month where you were so busy living that you lost track of all time? We took a deep breath and decided to pause our questions – they will return in the 2nd week of November. In the meantime, let us share with you some of those beautiful Things that happened in October. October 5th – Pam’s grandson drove up for a visit from North Carolina.  The last time we saw him was in June at his high school graduation.  He came up to see Pam’s seasonal getaway for the first time and to…

When a vacation ends, are you happy to go home or sad it is ending?

People are usually heading out on vacations with huge smiles on their faces and a pep in their step.  But what about coming home?  Are you looking forward to home? Or sad to leave? I am actually writing this blog post on the plane on the way home from a two-week vacation in Florida and I can say that I am feeling somewhat bittersweet. I am sad to leave my grandkids – always seems too short when I have to say goodbye to them. I am excited to get back to my camper on the weekends, I miss that little home that I can call my own. I am going…
