Complete this thought, “Today, I hope….”

hope [hōp] NOUN VERB What is it that you hope for today? Simply? I hope that those I love are happy, stay healthy, and realize how very much I care for them. Today I hope that we as a world can start to re-learn kindness. Kindness to the stranger, kindness to each other, kindness to our family and friends, kindness to ourselves. Kindness to people we will never meet or know….kindness to the world. Kindness to the Earth. Though we were not brought up in a religious home, we were taught The Golden Rule. I honestly had no idea that it was a religion-based tenet until I was an adult,…

What was the last thing that you saw read or heard that inspired you?

Inspiration can come from all different kinds of places – what was the last thing that you saw, read or heard that inspired you? I, just yesterday, read this rather intriguing short story about “out-of-the-box” thinking.  I liked it, and thought of it right away for this question,  Hope you like it as much as I. In a small Italian town, hundreds of years ago, a small business owner owed a large sum of money to a loan-shark. The loan-shark was a very old, unattractive looking guy that just so happened to fancy the business owner’s daughter. He decided to offer the businessman a deal that would completely wipe out the…

What is one thing you love about yourself?

If someone were to ask us what we dislike about ourselves, we could probably come up with a list of things pretty quickly – hair color, texture, eyebrows, lip shape, and on and on. But, if they asked what we love about ourselves, it might take a little longer to reply.  THIS is what we are asking in today’s question –  how would you respond? You know, I had to think about this question for a bit. Back in the day, I hated the color of my fiery red hair, but over the years came to appreciate and even love it.  Now that I am a grey-haired woman, I miss…

Did you ever feel abandoned or betrayed by a friend as a teenager?

Betrayal is something that we hope has not happened to you.  However, it has happened to a lot of us.  Today’s question is about betrayal in your teens – did a friend ever betray you in that tender decade?  Let’s see what Pam and Ellen have to say about this one. I will never forget “that” phone call. It was spring of my sophomore year, soon to be summer and I was in a relationship with a boy who I was over the moon about.  Everything was magical.  Our initial meeting was magical.  Our first few “dates” were magical.  His asking me to be his girlfriend = magical.  ALL of…

In school, was there ever a time when someone came to your rescue?

We all had those times when we were stymied by an assignment in school;  or needed help in some way.  Or was there a time that you needed someone to just be kind? Do you have a memory of a time when a friend, classmate, teacher, or someone else came to your rescue? Over my elementary years, I had a lot of bullying happen, heck into my high school years too.  A lot of those times, no one came to help or stick up for me.  They just stood there either jeering along or looking at their feet.  I always thought it was because they didn’t want the “bully” to…

If you were to volunteer for a charity, which would it be?

May May May!!! Things are starting to look so GREEN and we are loving this time of year. We are exploring the world of volunteering today.  Do you have a favorite charity that you would like to help at?  Ellen and Pam talk a little bit about the volunteering that they have done in the past and would like to do in the future My life at the moment is quite busy and I do not currently volunteer for anything, but there are lots of ideas running through my head.  In the past, I have sat at the bedside of the dying as a trained Hospice Volunteer, I have shaved…

When was the last time you started a conversation with a stranger?

Do you talk to people in the grocery store, the coffee shop or in the line at Walmart?  When was the last time you had a conversation with someone you did not know?  A trait that I inherited from my gregarious father is to talk to anyone at any time. I can remember when I was little asking my dad if he knew everyone?  It became a family joke that if Dad didn’t know them walking in, he would on the way out.  Talking to strangers is something that I missed most during our pandemic lockdown.  Now that we are back out in the world so speak, I am finding…

If you could invent something to help mankind, what would it be?

Inventions. They are all around us – everything we touch. We are querying today -> If you could invent something that could help mankind, what would it be? Well, here you go, the first question that we’ve posed that I really haven’t been able to answer. Who’da thunk? Pam speechless? I have a blank mind after spending many hours pondering. I mean, clean water for every person in the world? Important yes, but people are already working on it. Drones dropping food and or medicine to needy people around the world? Another important effort but if Amazon is dropping packages by drone, someone must already be on this too. Something…

Who is the most famous person you have ever met?

Famous people intrigue me and with social media it is easy to talk yourself into thinking you know the person you are following.  But they are presenting their A-game all the time and you really do not have a full picture of who that person really is. This week we are asking the question, who is the most famous person you have ever met? And a subsequent question might be – how did that turn out for you? I’ve met several famous people over the years but the one that I keep coming back to when thinking about this question is one I met recently, well within the last decade…

Assuming you’ve seen a lot of changes over the years – what is one thing you wish had not?

Even if you have only been alive for 20 years, you’ve seen a lot of changes in your lifetime. Here we are asking – is there something you wish had not? Pam and Ellen have something to say below: If you know my technological background, it won’t surprise you when I pick something in that field as a change that I wish had not happened.  Just a little over 30 years ago: We would go to the library to look something up we wanted to know about or take a book that we wanted to read out on loan. We would pull out a phone book to look up a…
