Is there an item you own that is not of much monetary value but is very important to you?

Cash is king, or so they say! But there are definitely things in our lives that are more important than money – take a look into what Pam and Ellen share is important to each of them. Because of my current living situation, I have become a master at surrounding myself with things that I love, are steeped in memory but have very little monetary value.  A dollar store rose that my grandson bought me – I will never forget him running up the walkway with it flailing above his head excited to bring the treasure to me. How do you strive to be similar to or different from your parents?

Are there things that you do now that make you immediately realize ‘that’s just what Mom would’ve said’ or ‘that’s what Dad would’ve done, too’? Are there traits you know you’ve inherited?  Or are you striving to be so different from your parents that no one would know you are even related? What is your most vivid memory of your maternal grandmother?

Some of us grew up knowing our grandparents, and some of us did not. Some have vivid memories of them, some have none. Some good, some bad. This week we are asking about our maternal grandmothers. Ellen and Pam tell us what their most vivid memory of her is. Here is a picture of Ellen, Pam and our maternal grandmother – Granny. My most vivid memory of my Granny? I have many, but one that is as clear as the day it happened was this: I was in her house in Upper Darby, PA.  I loved that house, every nook, and cranny, and all it represented to me – namely…

What is your favorite family heirloom?

Some of us have things from previous generations. Some of us have LOTS of things, some NONE. If you have any, do you have a favorite? This is what we are talking about today, Pam and Ellen definitely have picked something they favor above others. I have family heirlooms. Mostly paper.  Mostly things that I have to go through and figure out what I should do with.  Ephemera, family letters, family papers, mostly my grandparents, lots and lots of papers. Then there are a few things I can hold in my hand – pictures, doodads, and mostly things that hold memories for me.  They hold a special place at home…
