• Self Reflection,  The Adult Years

If you were a book, in which part of the bookstore would you be shelved?

Opening a good book can take you away to places you’ve never been and experience things you never dreamed of.  If someone wanted to get to know you better, what section of the bookstore would they find you in? This question stumped me for sure.   It appears in my year-end reflections every year and stumps me there as well. Because really, our lives are composed of drama, mystery, fantasy, travel, kids, romance, inspiration, humor, home and garden, crafts and hobbies, and self-help;  my life has been lived in each of these. But because this question is asking for a particular shelf, I would be on the New and Notable shelf. …

What is the last book you’ve read and where were you sitting when you read it?

If you are a reader, we would like to know what the last book is that you’ve read?  And where were you sitting when you read it? Do you have a special space? The last book I have read is How to keep a Secret by Sarah Morgan. It was a great little read, I enjoyed it and read most of it in a comfy chair in my bedroom.  I have also read The Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner,  The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick.  I enjoyed both of these. I currently have two books on my nightstand to be read – Anxious People by Fredrick Backman and Hour…

Can you think of an activity that you’ve taken up that you never would have imagined yourself enjoying?

Everyone has activities or hobbies that they love. Thinking about those you enjoy, is there one that you did not expect to? Funny thing about this question, I sat with it for weeks. I could not think of any activity that I took up not expecting to like it. Not sure what this means, maybe I am not adventurous enough? I finally remembered the first time I played BINGO publicly. I did not have great expectations but left wanting more. It was years ago, I went to a VFW with a co-worker. I didn’t know what to expect. I certainly thought it was going to be a fun night out…

Have you ever belonged to a book club?

Book clubs are many and varied in their form. Have you every belonged to one?  Let’s see what Pam and Ellen have to say. I have belonged to several different book clubs over the years and am currently in one. They have all been different, some had only a few members, some have many more and all have morphed over the years to something different than when they started. I have to admit, I am not a diligent nor consistent book club attendee.  Sometimes life gets in the way of my reading and I end up on the night of the meeting having to ask – “Can I still come? …

Who do you remember as the best storyteller in your family?

Storytelling. A way of sharing and interpreting experiences. We all tell stories in one way or another, here at Leaving A Life Legacy – we do it weekly. Today we would like to know, did/do you have a favorite family storyteller? As a kid, I can remember my grandfather, who we lovingly called Pop Pop telling stories all the time.  And if we were staying there overnight, we would all gather in the living room and while we played with dolls on the floor, Pop Pop would read out loud whatever book it was that they were in the middle of.  The sound of his voice was very calming and…

What was your favorite way to waste time as a child?

Wasting time. Some people think that doing something like reading, watching TV or doodling is “wasting time”. How bout you ?  What is your favorite way? Check out what Pam and Ellen think about this below: Wasting time as a child took many forms for me: Books – always a favorite.  We had a small ‘library’ at the house but weekend trips to our town library were most fruitful for me. Attic – I did spend hours up in there creating rooms or just treasure picking. Playroom – Hours playing house and dolls or school. Card Games – Solitaire, Crazy 8’s, War, Spit, Go Fish, Rummy and as I got…

Dancing isn’t to get to a certain place on the dance floor, it is to enjoy every step…
