What kind of car is this?

Today we are starting a new series on Leaving a Life Legacy. From the day we started back in 2018 until this very post, we have always answered a question. Always leaving a legacy of stories for our family, filling in gaps they might be questioning and hoping to clue them into what life was like for us growing up. Now, we are going to do something a little different. For every post in 2024, starting with this one, we will be showing a picture from our family’s past. Some will be before we were born, some after. Then each of us will reflect on that picture, what it means…

Choose – $200,000 luxury car or cash?

It is fun to dream – at least we think so. For today’s daydream, which would you rather have – a $200,000 luxury car or the equivalent in cash? For me there is no question on this one. Accepting an extra $200,000 into my life would ease life a bit.  I could pay down some bills, help family and possibly celebrate a little.  Not to look a gift horse in the mouth – but I am hoping that this $200,000 is AFTER taxes! This is a simple decision for me:  cash, cash and yes, the cash.  I truly love to drive – and am having so much fun currently with…

Have you ever given a hitchhiker a ride?

Hitchhiking. There used to be a LOT of that in the 60’s and 70’s, not so much today.  Our question this week is – have you ever let one in your car? Have you stopped to help?  And if hitchhiking brings back a lot of memories, be sure to look for next week when we will be asking if YOU have ever done it? I grew up in a very different world than the one we live in today.  Hitchhiking was an accepted way of getting around when I grew up.  I can remember riding with my Dad around town and picking up people was normal.  He would spot someone…

    Do you tan or burn?

The summer sun can be strong and unforgiving. When you get caught in it with no sunscreen – do you tan or burn? Being a fair skinned redhead, my answer to this is simple and short – BURN – BURN – BURN PEEL AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN As a child, and with fair skin, I was often found during the summer, laying on the couch with tea bags all over my sunburn, or aloe spread on the worst parts.  In my teens, the ‘norm’ was to bask in the sun with baby oil slathered all over.  Needless to say, that wasn’t a good alternative for me! Funny enough,…

What is the strangest place you’ve ever spent the night?

Before we start today, let’s just say HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ellen!! Hope your day is all you hope for. And now, on to the question for today! Our beds are a cozy haven for us.  We get used to the mattress, the pillow, the sheets – the whole package.  When we travel, sometimes we get lucky with the new bed and sometimes we don’t.  We may be pleasantly comforted or we may not sleep a wink.  Either way, I think we all have memories and stories to tell about the different places we have laid our heads.   Today, we are asking– where is the strangest place you have…

This is how I got to school each morning.

School bus, subway, sidewalk, bike, car. How did you get to school? Ellen and Pam will tell you their mode of transportation below: I took the bus to school right up until late Junior year when a dear friend of mine would come all the way from Bridgewater to pick me up – she knew how much I hate the bus.  I think back now and realize how nice that was, I don’t think I really appreciated her sacrifice at the time. You may have read about my bullying at the bus stop and how the bus driver helped that situation. Well, I had her help in other ways too.…

    What was your first car?

Curious what we each had?  See our names above the tree?  Clicking on them will take you to our answers. Do you remember your first ride? Would you care to share in comments below?  I didn’t get my license until I was 18 years old. Prior to that, I rode with friends everywhere – school, work, any entertainment.  But when I started college, I needed to find a car so that I could drive myself back and forth. My dad was a used car salesman and found “a car with great possibilities” for me.  If you knew my dad, that is pretty much how he looked at life – everything had…
