    The Three Amigos

This was a fun picture to find and I love it.  I may have to print this to frame.  I have always heard the stories bantered back and forth when my Aunt and Dad got together and started reminiscing about their younger days.  They were close in age and had a lot of the same friends.  I always marveled at their relationship from that time because as an adult, I only saw their relationship after it had deteriorated, and become contentious.  There was a feeling of superiority from my aunt to my dad and I saw her treat him with disdain and a condescending attitude more often than not. So,…

What do you love doing that you wish you could get paid for?

Most of us have something that we LOVE to do.   Getting paid to do it would be the icing on the cake.  Can you think of something that falls into this category?   Crafting would be it for me.  Any type. I just love repurposing “stuff” into something I see as more appealing.  I suppose that working with my hands in any type of crafting/DIY brings me the same joy as working in a garden does for a gardener.  If only I could live off the profits. There was a day that I loved planning so I became an Event Planner.  There was another time when I loved organizing…

In school, was there ever a time when someone came to your rescue?

We all had those times when we were stymied by an assignment in school;  or needed help in some way.  Or was there a time that you needed someone to just be kind? Do you have a memory of a time when a friend, classmate, teacher, or someone else came to your rescue? Over my elementary years, I had a lot of bullying happen, heck into my high school years too.  A lot of those times, no one came to help or stick up for me.  They just stood there either jeering along or looking at their feet.  I always thought it was because they didn’t want the “bully” to…

Have you ever given a hitchhiker a ride?

Hitchhiking. There used to be a LOT of that in the 60’s and 70’s, not so much today.  Our question this week is – have you ever let one in your car? Have you stopped to help?  And if hitchhiking brings back a lot of memories, be sure to look for next week when we will be asking if YOU have ever done it? I grew up in a very different world than the one we live in today.  Hitchhiking was an accepted way of getting around when I grew up.  I can remember riding with my Dad around town and picking up people was normal.  He would spot someone…

If you were to volunteer for a charity, which would it be?

May May May!!! Things are starting to look so GREEN and we are loving this time of year. We are exploring the world of volunteering today.  Do you have a favorite charity that you would like to help at?  Ellen and Pam talk a little bit about the volunteering that they have done in the past and would like to do in the future My life at the moment is quite busy and I do not currently volunteer for anything, but there are lots of ideas running through my head.  In the past, I have sat at the bedside of the dying as a trained Hospice Volunteer, I have shaved…

If you were given $100 today, what would you do with it?

Extra money.  Something we all could use. Something we get excited about finding in a forgotten jacket in the coat closet.  This week, we are asking, if you suddenly found yourself with an extra $100, what would you do with it? This one is fun.  I love brainstorming ways to spend money. There have been many lists over the years detailing purchases from a large lottery win. Initially, when contemplating this $100, my thoughts flashed through a new pocketbook, pair of shoes, gift for the grandkids, jacket, dinner. Then, I realized what a privileged list this turning into given the current world events and decided I would donate the $100…

What top 3 hair or beauty essentials could you not live without?

We all use products for our daily hygiene routines.  The question we are posing today is – do you have some favorites?  We would like to know what the top 3 hair or beauty essentials are  – the ones you could not live without?  Let’s see what Pam and Ellen are recommending. I am allergic to Sorbitol, a sugar substitute and I get severe cramps if I ingest it.  Once I figured out that is what was causing my cramps, I started label reading to see if I could figure out what was causing a rash/sores when I used certain products.  To my disbelief, I found Sorbitol in lotions, shampoos,…

    Celebrating October!

Sometimes life throws you a curveball.  October threw us a month filled with THINGS. Ever have a month where you were so busy living that you lost track of all time? We took a deep breath and decided to pause our questions – they will return in the 2nd week of November. In the meantime, let us share with you some of those beautiful Things that happened in October. October 5th – Pam’s grandson drove up for a visit from North Carolina.  The last time we saw him was in June at his high school graduation.  He came up to see Pam’s seasonal getaway for the first time and to…

Are there charities, organizations that you support?

Charities. Do you have some organizations or projects that you support / have supported? I have done a few different things over the years – hospice, children’s cancer research and children dealing with loss. Hospice – I was trained as a bedside volunteer.  Once we were assigned a patient, we visited once a week and did whatever the patient wanted.  Sometimes it was sitting there reading a book to them, or chatting or just being.  Sometimes it was laundry. Sometimes it was sitting with the spouse.  Either way, it was sacred work, an honor to be included in this very private time in their life. Children’s cancer research – I…

What one change would you like to see in your lifetime?

Changes – big and small.  They come at us daily. But what one change would you like to see in your lifetime? This is a pie-in-the-sky wish. And one that I can answer with one sentence. A revamped Political system – one that abolishes corruption. See what I mean about pie-in-the-sky?  Oh and while we are at it – No more hunger, poverty, violence, More pie-in-the-sky ideas. So I will just head back to my own corner of the world and do the next right thing – it’s all we can each do.  My immediate reaction to this was to start talking about kindness, loving one another and the Golden…
